My Loves!

Husband

Heart to heart:
Unspoken words exchanged
As eyes catch!

Mutual respect:
A friendship that endures
Life’s ups and downs!

His wide open arms,
The knowledge of 'cherished'
My safe haven!

****
Daughter

She whispers “Mom”
My heart skips a beat-
Soul captured!

Unstained innocence:
In awe of life and the world
Lures me to protect!

Her baby soft touch:
Warmth pours out in floods
My heart surrenders!

****
Together, the two:
Envelops my being,
Makes me who I am!

Spacedlaw said it! The phrase "unstained innocence" caught my breath. Life and love are fragile! Well done.

That is all incredibly beautiful, UL.

Unspoken words exchanged

I think words could never convey what those glances and looks say.

Such wonderful, loving sentiments. We are such blessed beings who know love, the giving and receiving...and the being of love. Your poems express that quality of being love.

One of your poems, to my heart's ear, which seems most close to haiku:

She whispers “Mom”
My heart skips a beat-
Soul captured!

So sweet!

May I be so bold as to suggest kigo (Valentine's Day would work very well!). I believe it would embody haiku spirit even moreso, i.e., by expressing your love-response in 2 parts, rather than 3, eliminating the caption line of emotional summation. Something to the effect of:

when she whispers “Mom”
my heart skips a beat—
my Valentine

or:

tiny Valentine—
even my soul's gone captive
in her whisper, "Mom"

Happy haikuing, Happy loving, and Happy Valentine's Day!
