Riding into the silent past
My heart beating rapid fast
I witness times lost, recast
Relive events, openly aghast
East to West the short trip last
North and South, quite contrast
My heart beating rapid fast
I witness times lost, recast
Relive events, openly aghast
East to West the short trip last
North and South, quite contrast
I close the book, sigh headfast
Contented heart, sit back at last!
Contented heart, sit back at last!
Shut my eyes, dreams forecast
Adventure and chaos, naps flyfast.
Adventure and chaos, naps flyfast.
Surprise weaves in, like bast
No jetlag in site, home ballast.
Refreshing hour, a tiny clast
Makes my day, feel dynast
A magical journey totally vast
Treasures found, what a blast!

As a kid, I loved the little room tucked away in the West Wing of my grandparents’ home. I always referred to the hidden library as the ‘magical room’ for there was magic every time I stepped in through its doors. Here I got to journey into the unknown, a delightful world of colors and adventure where treasures were waiting to be found. For the same reason my summer holidays were filled with amazing trips into the world of words and images.

oh like the use of word jetlag.. absolutely home should be a place where we feel no jet lag :)
I find books treasure any day.
beileve it or not! i wroteon teh same thing :) but as usual you've conveyed so much in your beautiful poem as compared to my outpourings :)... some of my fondest memories are to do with books...
Books. Books. And that special place to turn pages. A magical journey, indeed!
I love the magic of books too

You know where to find treasure! It's a gift which passes through you.
Well said.

Oh yes, so many treasures to be found in books. Great flow in your poem.
that was precious... and oh so fun to read!!!!!!
beautiful poem Ul! Books and the magical places they take us... truly a treasure! :))
I love this as is seems most people do.
Books will always have a place in the lives of generations to come as well as those past. Technology won't - can't- change that!
Wow, it's so hard to use rhyme when you are only trying to repeat it once, never mind using the same one throughout! Good job!
Great rhyme and rhythm. It's refreshing to read a poem about childhood magic.
Week after week you make me smile, wonderful post.
I liked that a lot!
It's a great poem read out aloud with emphasis....I just did!
