Premonition

Bone chilling shivers seep through my being. My numb heart thuds and halts with a rhythm. The apartment looks familiar, terrifyingly so. The five ‘o’ clock shadows cast by the sun makes me delirious and faint with fear. I am hesitant to insert the key and unlock the horrors that lie within. Through the hazy clouds that clutter my intellect, I reach inward to uncover the incident that began as a dream. Only a dream! One that turns bloody and horrible within a matter of few minutes! One that features this very place whose keys dangle from my almost lifeless fingers! Unlike the dream, I have a choice here, I don’t have to walk in through that door and awaken the sleeping monster. It’s best to turn around and walk away. As this wild thought cross my mind, the door opens and he greets me evilly.
“What took you so long? I have been waiting. Are you ready for the grand tour?”
Did I really have a choice? I walk in.

I hope that the title isn't the reality. And the dream is just a dream

I enjoyed the word placement very much. You use words slightly different than the norm and it makes such a difference

UL,
What's that old saying? He who hesitates is lost.

I want to say - you always have a choice - but that's not always true! Chilling.

I dunno, something about this for me was not so chilling but funny. Maybe it's the mood I came here in.

Eerie. I love the last line. There is no choice. How could you not walk in?

Great job!

As soon as I saw the title I had a feeling you'd write something like this :-)

I'm with PJD. For some reason, I envision the "monster" as like a mother or mother-in-law :)

Ooo-errr! So what happened next?

sounds kind of scary but I did expect someone more dreadful, like TC said, a mother-in-law or real monster

Ghoulish!! Dreams vs. reality -- and facing demons. Sometimes opening the door is a good thing; other times it's "run like a bat from hell"!!

I thought at first you were going to play a trick and say you were entering the dentist's office! A fun read. I love suspense and thrillers. Thanks for your comments on my blog, UL. You're such a nice blogging friend.
