storming sinewy clouds
drift atop the woods
branches raise hoods
thundering, heavy downpour
ripped off modesty and tore
through the bough’s core
ink-black sky
passions spring high
bare limbs comply
passions spring high
bare limbs comply
moody surroundings clear
Aftermath, warmth smear
roots spread affectionate cheer.

Nice take on the prompt!
I like the image of the branches raising their hoods
A stormingly good piece of poetry :-)
thundering, heavy downpour
ripped off modesty and tore
through the bough’s core
I find these lines expecially evocative! Great poem!
very nice, i like.
liked the contrast between the 1st and 3rd stanza :-)
Very vivid reminder of Florida hurricanes.
Nothing can compare with nature's passion.
Nice imagery! Hows about in the first line something like Storm cloud broods, to keep the rhyme consistent. Or not. Whatever. It's good as is.
I especially liked the opening, the idea of "sinewy"...brought in the power adn movement of a good storm right away.
ink-black sky - love that line
My favorite stanza-
thundering, heavy downpour
ripped off modesty and tore
through the bough’s core
Reminds my of the rains we have in Georgia.
i am from south florida,, so the second stanza in combination with the picture say hurricane... devastation and aftermath to me.. very nicely done ul.....
I don't think I have ever read such a beautiful image of a storm. It is perfect. Our submission can be found here. Thank you for visiting.
very descriptive great Even in nature you get a happy end
i could feel this storm in your words...this is awesome
i like the words "hoods" and "modesty" in this piece. very unique!
I too really loved that third stanza, and how the imagery was ambiguous enough that it could be human passion as well as nature's passion. Great poem!
