Who Wins?

War betwixt kith and kin
Upholder of truth or defender of injustice
Both heroes fighting the cause,
Tell me, tell me who will win?

Easy answer, lest you think
Hear this teaser, before you blink.
Conflict happens within, inside you
Kith and kin, not outside you
Tell me, tell me who will win?

When mind turns battlefield
When reasons fight side by side
Both uphold and then defend
Tell me, tell me who will win?

Now you mention, a tough question
Thoughts follow in succession
Friend or enemy, choice within
Tell me, tell me who will win?

What actions to win the mind?
How should your life wind?
Answers to questions of this kind
Strategies to gain control over mind
Constitute essence of this song divine.
Travel this trail and question the soul,
This fight between kith and kin
Tell me, tell me who will win?

This poem is inspired with respect to a book in mind, one of my favorites, a philosophy really, called the Bhagavad-Gita whose verses are written in Sanskrit. I have lost count of the times I have read this fine piece of writing, I learn something new everyday. However, I didn’t pick out ten words at the end of each chapter as every word every line holds a multitude of meaning for me. Note that this poem is just a beginning of how I feel about one of the best philosophies that I have come across in life. I can see more additions to this.

Your poem reminds me to examine my own conscience, because so often I want to "win" a conflict, upholding my own truth. It is a struggle from within, isn't it? I really like your poem.
