Lost And Found

LOST

Haunted by the past,
She fled the continent.
Haunted by images,
She drowned in guilt.
Haunted by nightmares,
She hardly slept.
Haunted by memories,
She was lost.

FOUGHT

This must end,
She told herself.
Time to choose,
Time to resolve.
Exorcize the ghost,
And confront the past.
On such thought,
She prepared to fight,
Fugitive no more,
Ready to brave.
Armored the self,
And felt utterly safe.
Attempt the impossible,
Find escape.

She stopped,
Turned inward,
And then attacked.
Killed the evil,
Set the spirit free.
For she was still,
Her worst enemy.

FOUND

She looked deep,
Into her soul –
Uprooted her fears.

She rummaged,
Under the covers-
Shook away guilt.

She searched the dark-
Corners of her mind,
Spreading the light.

She delved some more,
Into the layers –
And found the self.

She was still her worst enemy. Isn't it true that we first have to qonquer ourselves. Great poem full of hope.

This was very thought-provoking. We can certainly find ghosts in our pasts and be haunted by our actions, can't we? terrific poem ;o)

The inner enemy is what needs to be dwelt with. Great poem.

I just loved this. Many of us must feel as we read this that we are reading our own stories. Well done.

I really like this - her admitting of fear, struggle and then triumph.

I like the idea of rummaging under the covers and shaking away guilt. And I like that your heroine ultimately triumphs. Well done, you!

I really enjoy how you told your tale in verse, with three breaks - like chapters. Nice work.
