Frostbite

Fighting the wind chill -
I trudged through knee-deep snow
My frame arched in battle!

Bitter cold outside, chilling freeze inside
Layers of clothes sandwiched in between -
Enriching warmth nowhere in site!

Plodding and panting I wade along,
a blanketed icicle -
Unwilling, refusing to melt!

Touched my nose then stopped in fright -
I feel nothing, the terror arise!
Dear Lord in heaven, will I survive?

I like the last part - a somewhat fun but scary end.

Frosted nose is not a good thing! Grin. This is sure an energetic piece - lots of tension and brrrrr.!

For some reason this reminds me of descritpions of blizzard in Old West stories. I love the tone you captured here.

remind me as I'm rather scattered these days--living in a renovation to sell--uh--have to keep explaining to the contractor--"I'm not going to be living here. Basics only" Which sounds as if it were in horrible shape--it was so nice but things needed to be brought up to code--I was sold it that way and didn't know--NY prewar flood damage took drastic tool and other things

Anyway I love this poem. Was out all day Thursday---with friends--getting that last bit of post holiday/birthday, not mine, celebrating--and yes it was like that!!!!

So remind me to vote for you--better yet leave a comment at 3WW--and ask people to plug you--or I will ask and plug :)
